I'm 31 weeks today! That's only 9 weeks left...Here is a new picture of me:

I don't know how much I weigh, but at 28 weeks I was 7 lbs up (14 total) so I am GUESSING I have gained maybe 3-4 lbs. Which I am quite fine with. Lots of happened since my last update.

I took a lovely trip to L&D after I got home from Utah:

Nothing serious, I just was having some pains and the idiot receptionist wouldn't let me talk to a nurse or doctor b/c I wasn't bleeding, she would only let me leave a message. I WAS FURIOUS. The nurse finally called me about 4 pm and said that it was too late to see the doctor so I needed to just go to l&d. I was there for over 3 hours but everything was fine. I was slightly dehydrated which was causing some pains, I had a little bit of a gastro issue and I had pulled a muscle from coughing. I did get my flu shot though so it wasn't a total waste. I had my doctor's appt a few days later and complained about the receptionist and my doctor was very apologetic and told me next time to refuse to get off the phone until they let me speak to someone!

24 weeks

So I'd like to start by saying that the photo in the last post was more food baby than actual baby. Here is proof:

Thomas is almost 2 pounds now! He is the size of one of these:

He kicks....and kicks.....and kicks! I love it. He also squirms and punches and rolls and just likes to play. I've tried tickling whatever body part he sticks out and he moves away, its funny. He also seems to quite enjoy my singing, he is very into the Christmas music we have been practicing at Chorale (a kid after my own heart, I tell you)

The best part of 24 weeks is that now, he is considered "viable", meaning that if he was born today, he would have more than a 50% chance of surviving. Although, I'd like to keep him in there past Christmas, as he will be full term by then. Plus he will be fat, and I prefer fat babies. (Side Note: Why does EVERYONE think my baby is going to be fat? Are you all saying this b/c you think his parents are fat????? WELL????)

Here are the VERY HUMBLE beginnings of his room:

As you can see, we have lots of work to do, and if I showed you the other side of the room, it would basically be a giant pile of clothes. Not sure if you can tell by the picture, but on the bed is laying a 25 year old puffalump cow named cow (thanks nanny) who has been through the ringer, having had several operations to repair tears and stuffing loss (thanks grandma) as well as stains, including an awesome fruit punch stain received within the last 3 years from SOMEONE (thanks Tom). He cant sit by himself anymore (cow I mean, not Tom) but I still love him. So I did what every amazing person would do and I went on ebay and purchased a BRAND NEW PUFFALUMP MONKEY(from the 80s) and am now bestowing it upon little T. It now sits in his crib, anxiously awaiting his arrival. I am currently searching ebay for more puffalumps for my future children (3? 4? 5?).

Ahh, the joys of pending motherhood!

Lastly, I just recently had a birthday and turned 25! Yeah I know some sources claim 28 but if you ask my mom, she will confirm that I was born 25 years ago, when she was 16 (she was a very young mom). Right mother dear? Anyway, for my birthday my lovely husband bought me a nice new camera!

I am by no means a photographer and I can barely use this thing in the manual settings but its really pretty and nice and I think it will suit my beginner skills just fine! Plus I have about 4 months to perfect my skills before the baby is here (which is really why I wanted it in the first place).

We are off to Utah next week to spend a week with Tom's family and have my first baby shower! So expect the next post to be all about that!

He is kicking like crazy, I can feel him kick from the outside. Tom has felt it a couple times too but I feel it all the time! I look forward to it every day, it's my favorite thing about being pregnant so far. I think I will miss this special bond with just me and him, I get to be with him all the time (obviously) just the two of us, but I cant wait to meet our little buddy and share him too!

Sigh....I'm so in love.

Yesterday we had our ultrasound. I prepared with Diet Doctor Pepper and a "Fun Size" Snickers bar. Thomas (its weird to call him by name!) was all over the place, rolling, flipping, and moving every which way. I think I overdid it on the sugar haha. The tech was so sweet and asked if we wanted to know what it was before we started. We told her yes and as soon as she put the wand on my stomach, the view was right between his legs and I saw his boy parts. She shifted it a little and said "Well, there is his wee-wee, it's a boy!". I cried. I knew it would be a boy! Tom was surprised but so so so excited. A little relieved too haha. She took all his measurements and he is just perfect. He weighed 9oz and everything was measuring on schedule between 18w1d and 18w4d, except his little tummy, 19w3d! He is a chunk. The doctor said I must have been feeding him well! She said it was normal though. Oh how I long to kiss that little tummy. I am so sad I have to wait 5 more months! I want him now. This will be the 8th boy in a row on Tom's side and the 9th boy total. They only have 2 girls. The Orwins are great at making boys. By contrast he will be the second boy born on my side, with 8 girls in between! So 8 girls and 2 boys on mine. Suffice it to say, my family was very excited to finally have another little boy in the family, especially since the first was born over 8 years ago!

I have more ultrasound pictures but I haven't uploaded them yet.

As of today I am 18w2d. I am feeling great. Ive only gained like 2 lbs, if that, which means I'm still 5 down from when I started the pregnancy. No complaints about that! Here is a picture of my stomach now! I was sick last week a little but this week I have felt good.

I am so excited about my sweet little baby boy. We cant wait to finally hold him and kiss him and welcome him to the world...Almost half way there!

I AM PREGNANT!

14 WEEKS:

Baby Orwin is due January 16th! I find out August 16th what we are having. I am dying to find out, I want to buy clothes sooooo badly. I already have of course, both boy and girl clothes, but I made sure that everything I bought I can return and now have two piles of stuff, and whichever sex it isn't, gets exchanged for the proper gender :), probably right after my appointment!

I think its a boy, Tom thinks its a girl. My side of the family wants a boy, Tom's side wants a girl. I have done all the old wives tests and they all said BOY! If its a boy, it will be Thomas Alma Orwin II, and if its a girl it will be Ruby Isabelle Orwin. We have had these names picked out since we got engaged so luckily we don't have to fret about that for the next 6 months. Please vote in my handy dandy poll in the upper right hand corner of the blog with what you think it is!

So far in this pregnancy I have lost 7 lbs, which makes no sense judging by the above picture, but its true. My morning sickness has started to wane, I was throwing up almost everyday in weeks 8-11 and now I am down to about once or twice a week. It sucks but not so unbearable that I had to be put on a prescription, although I wish I was sometimes. I am not even gonna go into all the other pregnancy symptoms I have/am experiencing b/c most of them suck/are disgusting but the thought of having a little baby inside me and that I will be a mother in 6 months makes me so gloriously happy that they don't seem so bad in the long run.

I'd like to end this post with how thankful I am that Heavenly Father has trusted me with this little spirit. I am so grateful that I will be a mother to this precious, sweet baby and help him or her grow in the gospel. I am so so thankful.

I'll end with the video I made to tell my grandma that I was pregnant. This is her first great grandchild. If you want to skip to the part where I break the news, start it at 2:40, but the video is only 3 minutes long and I must say, I have pretty good video skills, so I would suggest watching the whole thing :)

So we FINALLY had match day!!!

Im sure you all know by now, but this is where we are going:

VCU!!!!! This was our first choice so its amazing we got it (I knew all along he would ;) of course)

The Ultimate Summer Mix 2011

So the high is 77 degrees today, which obviously means its time to create the Ultimate Summer Mix 2011. What is the Ultimate Summer Mix you ask? Well its a mix of all the best songs to listen to while you drive in your car with the windows down/exercise/lay on the beach/make you happy that its warm out. This list can have as many/as little songs as you want but I try to make it as long as possible and really get a good mix of genres. You can have some slow songs but you mostly want fast/fun/poppy/summer songs. So I am enlisting your help. What should I include on my list? I have started and its pretty awesome but I am always missing something, so please leave me some suggestions! Weight Watchers and Things I Love....

So, I began Weight Watchers on January 3rd....which is roughly 3.5 weeks ago, and I have lost a total of.........12 pounds! I cant even believe it! It has been a lot of hard work but its been worth it. I can totally see a difference and several people have told me that I look thinner. My goal was to lose at least 25 pounds by March 1st and I think I have a good chance of making that goal! I will continue after that of course but I would really like to reach that goal.

Updates and Resolutions

So.....I have been terrible with updating this thing, but I am really gonna strive to be better...more on that later.

So, since our last update, Tom has heard back from and had interviews with:

University of Texas (San Antonio)
Virgina Commonwealth University

He did get a few more but decided not to interview with them, so I didn't include them. So now we have the lovely task of ranking them in the order that we would like to attend. We will rank the 10 he went to, but the top 3 are the most important, because something like 85% of all medical students will get one of their top 3 (I think Tom has a good chance of getting his first choice b/c he is so smart but he would never agree with me....its true though ;)) We then submit our rank and wait impatiently until March to find out where we go. Kinda scary!

So as for my New Years Resolutions, I have 5 this year:

1. LOSE WEIGHT.

Of course this is one, isn't it always? Tom and I have become way too...comfortable....being married and got really lazy. So I need to get back into shape. I am not gonna put a specific number on how much I need/want to lose, but, I would to be down at least 25 lbs...my size 6 jeans of a year and a half ago are collecting dust in the back of my closet and will continue to do so until then....

2. BE BETTER ORGANIZED/CLEAN MORE.

I wish that was my closet....but seriously, I am terrible at keeping things clean/organized. Basically because, like I said, I can be a little lazy. Its such a good feeling to have everything clean and in its proper place though, something I've learned this past year of being married.

3. COMPLETE PERSONAL PROGRESS/GO TO SUNDAY SCHOOL.

I put these together because they are both church related. First I really want to start/complete my personal progress. Yes I know I'm 27 and have been out of Young Women for...ugh....10 years or so, but I really want my Young Women medallion (esp since now it has a ruby on it hehe):

and the new Honor Bee (instead of a Laurels Project, you now earn the Honor Bee, which you do by reading the Book of Mormon again, you have to read it to get the medallion, and do 40 hrs of service):

The church has sort of revamped the Personal Progress program and any woman in the church can redo it, even if they have already received their medallion. Pretty Cool. Secondly, I have a bad habit or skipping Sunday School and I really dont want to do that. We are doing the New Testament this year, so I actually bought the teacher's manual to help me and I actually want to read the lesson's scriptures beforehand.

4. WRITE IN MY BLOG.

I feel guilty denying all of you my wit and entertaining posts. Jk. Really I just enjoy doing it but always forget to update. Plus I am really bad at taking pictures, so I never have anything good to post. That should be included in this resolution too. Updating your blog means taking pictures to post on it!

5. EOLA ELLA

My sister and I decided YEARS ago, probably in High School, to start a craft business and call it Eola Ella (after my great grandmother of the same name). We always talk about it but never actually do anything about it. I hope this year we can come closer to actually creating something.

So there you are folks....hopefully I will update again soon or I'll have already broken one of my resolutions ;).

Our Interview List

So, as most of you know, Tom is in med school and just started his 4Th year. Most of this year is made up of him interviewing at hospitals/schools for his residency program. The way it works is, we pick about 20-25 schools we would like to go. We submit for an interview and usually you hear back from about 50%-60% of them. Then he actually goes and interviews. THEN we make a list out of the schools he interviewed with that we would like to go. We pick about 8-10 and rank them in order of where we want to go. Then there is a thing called "the match". They put all your information into a big database and match you up with the school, depending on where they ranked you. Its slightly confusing but basically, we have no choice in the matter! We will go to one of the 8 or 10 places but it might not be our first, second or fifth choice! Anyway, we are not quite at that point yet, you don't match until March. However here is the first list of schools we have chosen. There are a lot. I put stars next to the ones I would choose, if I had the choice (either due to family in the area, the proximity to family or the proximity to Disney World :) hehe)!

Books I've read lately

Here are some books I've read and what I thought about them:

What I thought: This book was very good. I actually listened to it on my ipod (most of these I listened to actually, I listen to and from work, on vacation and while working out). My church book club read it and thought it a little inappropriate but I didn't mind it, especially since I hated Miss Hilly! I definitely suggest it, I couldn't put it down!

What I thought: LOVED THEM. TEAM PEETA! I loved these books, especially Hunger Games. This is one of the first books were I haven't hated the heroine the entire timed (I did hate her some of the time but it was very little). I had to start the second one right away after the first and it killed me that the second one left on such a cliff hanger. Read these!

What I thought: Keeping with the Christmas in July theme, I wanted to read a short little Christmas book, and this one was only 4 hours. Ehhh. Don't waste your time. It says its a Christmas story, but I would say only the last half hour of the book has anything to do with Christmas. It has some funny parts, and maybe I would have liked it better if it wasn't billed as a Christmas Book but I just kept waiting for the Christmas aspect and was a little disappointed.

What I thought: I actually read these at Christmas but if you want some good Christmas stories, I suggest both of these. They are both actually very sad, but still very good. I start early, but they would both be good to start right after Halloween :)

My Name Is Evan....And I Have a Problem

So because of this....

we are stuck in the house so I decided it would be the perfect time to color-code my closet and finally get all my clothes put away....the result is utter embarrassment. I have counted 326 articles of clothing (mind you this only includes tops, sweaters, dresses and skirts. This does not include jeans, leggings, t-shirts, sweatshirts, undershirts, tank-tops, pj pants etc. I don't even want to get into that) and I'm not even done! I was only able to hang up 172 pieces....

the majority of the rest are laying on my bed, while some are waiting downstairs to get washed and dried.

I almost have enough clothes to wear something new everyday for a whole year. Granted some of these clothes date back to 2000, classics I cant bear to part with, but its still stupid I have this many clothes. I cant even fit them in my closet! I have to put the rest in the second bedroom....and I cant give them away. Some stuff I haven't worn in over a year but the thought that I might wear it makes me hold on to it. Or stuff doesn't really fit but it was expensive so I think its a waste of money so I don't want to give it away. I heard a saying once that goes "you will wear 20% of your wardrobe 80% of the time and 80% of your wardrobe 20% of the time". That's totally me! Am I a hoarder??? Be honest....

Hello everyone! Yes I am married, and yes I will make a huge post about the wedding and post pictures soon, but first I have a dilemma. You see I am going to be receiving a gift card to buy a Kitchenaid. I have wanted a Kitchenaid since high school. I love them. Now its time to finally get one and I'm so torn!! What color?!?!? I Love To See The Temple!

I went to the temple this past Saturday to receive my endowment. It was amazing! I was really nervous because 1 million people told 1 million different things but it really was an experience I'll never forget.

Of course, nothing can ever go smoothly.....Last Tuesday I got a call from the temple and it went something like this:

Temple: Sister Cook, you're coming this Saturday to receive your endowment, correct?

Me: Yes, I am, is everything OK?

Temple: Not quite. Sister Cook we have a problem.

Me: OK.............

Temple: The Temple is closed. We had a water pipe burst so we have to close the temple until at least next Tuesday.

Me:.............(silence, mixed with tears welling in my eyes)

Temple: Can you come next week at all??

Me: No, my fiance is in medical school and he really cant come any other day that Saturday.

Temple: OK, well technically you can still come, we are keeping the Temple open for some missionaries who have to receive their endowment, so since yours is a special case, you can still be here, however there will be no heat and no bathrooms in the temple

Me: (thinking, why didn't you tell me this first!) OK that's not a problem, I still want to come!

So, no stress right?? I was already picturing myself freezing, and having to pee, especially since I was to be there from 1:30-5:00! So Saturday arrived, very quickly I might add, and it was FREEZING. I wanted to dress very modestly as well as warmly, so I wore a black shirt, black wool button down sweater, a black and white floral print knee length skirt (which by the way is a 2 from the gap but I know it HAS to be marked wrong but I don't care I'm still saying I wore a 2 that day) black tights and black flats. Tom picked me up at 10am and he said "Aww you look just like a Mormon mom, kinda plain" Thanks love! He said he was just kidding (i knew he was) and told me I looked so beautiful the rest of the day to make up for it haha. So about 1/2 hour into driving it started to rain, and it never stopped. We got to the temple at about 1 and went in and I felt heat!!! We went to check in, and asked if everything was working and they said yes, that the heat and plumbing was back on as of the night before! Amazing! The devil tries to bring me down and then God makes it all better. (God Infinity and 1, Devil 0). So my mother and I embarked to the dressing room to start my journey. It was only me and another girl who was going on a mission and about 6 female temple workers. We were fawned over! They were sooo sweet and I felt very pampered and well cared for. As for the spirit, its true what everyone says, its different there. It was overwhelmingly present throughout my whole experience and made me want to live there. When I saw Tom again, he was in white and he looked at me like he was speechless for a minute, and he whispered "you look so beautiful right now" What a beast, love him! We got to sit next to each other through the whole endowment and it was wonderful. I was one of the last to enter the Celestial room, Tom was able to take me to it so to speak ;), and my family was waiting and I about died. There are no words to describe the beauty. If you know me, you know I looooooove all things gold, diamond, crystal, etc and the Celestial Room was literally heaven on earth in more ways than one!!!! We stayed for a few minutes in there, and then went to change. Back in the dressing room, two of the ladies said "You were so beautiful today, you have the best smile" I mean talk about making me feel like a Queen! Afterwards, we went back outside to the freezing rain but I couldn't even feel it, I was so warm and happy! Then Tom and I went to Chili's and they had the best $20.00 dinner deal haha!! What a day!!!

Sadly, my camera was dead upon arrival, so the only picture I can provide you with is one I took in the parking lot waiting for my parents, doesn't my hair look reeeeeeally red against the black? Its weird! 4 days peeps!!!

So I'm 18 days out and my to do list is forever growing....

As you can see, it full of things that are actually really important (some not so important but still need to be done)....Anyone want to offer any help?? Anyone??

(side note: I am a freak when it comes to lists and making them as neat as possible, so I re wrote the list, here is the "rough draft")

I will say I have done a few of the things on my list! Well 2 things. I got the fabric for my favors and I got the bridesmaids earrings!! I don't want to post pictures of the earrings because they are gifts and I don't have a picture of the fabric so sorry.

Tom's mother made me a wonderful CD of pictures of Tom growing up to use for the wedding video.....and I lost it. Luckily she made a copy! So I'm just waiting for that to arrive in the mail so I can start on the video, but meanwhile, here is a little preview of some baby pictures....How cute is Tom? Love him!

I don't know if you guys know what a wife wallet is (since I just made the term up) but mostly it consists of enough pockets to hold all the stuff that wives hold.....like gift cards and receipts (i don't really know what wives hold but my wallet was getting way too small). You cant really tell but this thing has a million pockets!!! I love it. Please disregard my hideous license picture....I cant wait to get a new one! (covered due to crazies!)

So that's all I have for now! I still cant believe I only have 18 days left.....CRAZY!

My hairstyle (kinda, its gonna be pulled back a little lower, and my hair is gonna be more straight but you can get an idea):

I wish I could post my dress, because I loooooooove it, but for obvious reasons I cannot. I'll just say that it is very unique and has a vintage feel!!! So the wedding is in 32 days and I dont feel ready at all. I ordered 150 invitations and ended up needing 215 soooo I had to go to Target and create some, so I have 3 different wedding invitations!! I just figured out what my centerpieces for my tables are gonna look like and I love them. Fall colors, butterflies, pinecones, jewels, glitter haha. It sounds kinda crazy but its gonna be beautiful! I will post some pictures of it soon!
